In Memoriam – Tom Donahue

In Memoriam – Tom Donahue

It is with immense sadness and heaviest of hearts to share that our loyal friend Thomas “Tom” Donahue, President of the Roslindale Day Parade Committee, passed away peacefully on August 24, 2021.

Tom was the heart and soul of the Roslindale Day Parade. His greatest pride was organizing the parade, year after year, rain or shine.

There was no bigger champion of the Roslindale Community than Tom. Aside from the Roslindale Day Parade, Tom enjoyed giving his time and effort helping and supporting many other Roslindale based groups and events.

Tom’s enthusiasm, leadership, and most of all, friendship, will be deeply missed by all of us. He will always be with us in spirit, and will continue to inspire us all to carry on his legacy in Roslindale.

In honor of Tom and his 35 year plus service to the community we are honored to re-name the parade in honor of him, from now on every first Sunday in October with the exception of the Sunday Columbus day falls on the first Sunday in October it will be the Thomas M. Donahue Roslindale Parade.

Thank you for everything, Tom.

The Roslindale Day Parade Committee regrets to acknowledge the recent passing of our dear friend Richard W. Laham.

In addition to his dedicated long-term service on the Parade Committee, Richie was the voice of several of our Roslindale Day Parades on the Boston Neighborhood Network and the “Mayor of Roslindale” for our 2003 Parade. He was also active in many other local community organizations.

Richie will be greatly missed.

In Memoriam – Walt Michalik

The Roslindale Parade committee lost one of its founding members on February 17th, 2017.

Walt Michalik was a true Class Act who poured his heart and soul into Roslindale in many ways.

Walt was thrilled to be honored as one of the 2016 Parade’s Grand Marshals. His steady presence and contributions to the parade’s perennial success will be dearly missed.
